You are a presence best forgotten, a curse in a false skin. Replete your lungs with air that once filled mine again. You tried to suffocate my flame, make me think nothing's changed, and nothing ever will. You are serpent, a slave to decay, wrap yourself around my neck, watch me hang and suffocate me. Draining all I thought was mine. Resign me to the feeling that I’m no longer alive. And if I had second chance I'd make sure you never breathe again. Serpent, slither your back to hell. There’s nothing left to be consumed, I’m not your victim. Serpent, shed your skin, I won’t allow my veins to be poisoned. Help me cure this curse or slit my wrists with your last words. So avoid contact with my skin, brush by me and pretend we never met. Loosen your grip and fall lifeless by my side,No longer afraid of the mask you hide behind. And I’ll count the scars left by your teeth. I'll wear them as a memorial of what's behind me. Nothing behind your mask, nothing but a fragment from a broken past.
